Yesterday I went to my friends hen day. she wanted to do something a little bit different, rather than the usual ‘go out and get as drunk as you possibly can’ hen party. so we went off to the Sanderson hotel for afternoon tea.
The Sanderson is contemporary 5 star hotel, the décor is modern and the reception area has amusing pieces of furniture around every corner. This included the largest chaise longue I have ever seen, lips sofa, doggy portraits and chandeliers.
We was then taken outside where we “tumble down the rabbit hole” and enjoy the wonderful world of tea in the beautiful Courtyard Garden.
The afternoon tea featured an ‘Eat Me’ Queen of Hearts strawberry and cream mousse. A ‘Drink Me’ bottle containing a potion of apple pie, lemon curd and English toffee. Each sip giving you a different and contrasting taste as you drink through the layers with a straw. Blueberry lollipops that turn you tongue from hot to cold, a chocolate rabbit’s clock which was a chocolate and coffee layered sponge cake. Finger sandwiches are served in a rainbow of colours and of course traditional scones with clotted cream and jam.
They also offer a glass of champagne for an extra charge which I convinced everyone (with not much difficulty) to have. The whole afternoon is a well thought out novelty twist on traditional afternoon tea. I half expected the white rabbit to be sitting in the corner tapping on his watch, instead there was my friend tapping on her watch as she had organised a full fun day of activities with with military precision.
Well worth a visit if you are staying in London, or even if you live in or around London.
I am going to Ibiza tomorrow, so not much blogging from me for the next week or so and typically, it has stopped raining just as we are about to fly to warmer climates.
